Can You Get Incontinence Supplies with Pennsylvania Medicaid?
This post was reviewed by our Director of Clinical Excellence and Oversight.
If you’re a Pennsylvania Medicaid beneficiary having difficulty affording incontinence supplies, there’s a solution you may not know about: Your Medicaid benefits might cover the cost of your products.
Does Pennsylvania Medicaid Cover Incontinence Supplies?
Pennsylvania Medicaid does cover absorbent incontinence products as a benefit. Products that are covered could include booster pads, protective underwear, bladder control pads, or even adult briefs(adult diapers). This means that if you are currently enrolled in Pennsylvania Medicaid and meet the state requirements, you could receive incontinence supplies at little to no cost.
What Are the Requirements for Product Coverage?
Pennsylvania Medicaid will only cover incontinence supplies if they are considered medically necessary to treat your condition. This means that a licensed physician must confirm that you have incontinence and need incontinence products as part of your treatment. In some cases, Pennsylvania Medicaid may need to pre-approve your supplies before you can receive them.

Before You Get Supplies
To use your Medicaid benefits for incontinence supplies, you first must get a diagnosis from a doctor. Only a diagnosis from a doctor counts as proof that incontinence supplies are medically necessary for your treatment. Once a doctor has given you a diagnosis, you will be eligible for coverage of incontinence products if you have Medicaid.
After you’ve seen a doctor, the next step is to sign up online. Each month, we will deliver the supplies you need and bill Medicaid on your behalf. We also follow up with you every month to make sure the products are meeting your needs.
